Stal Hester Klompmaker

Our family business is located in Buitenpost, in the region: North-East Friesland. It’s 1,5 hours drive from Amsterdam and three hours drive from Hamburg. There is a train station located in the village of Buitenpost with a great connection to the big cities. The equestrian venue in Tolbert is nearby, and various show jumping competitions are held in the region on a weekly basis.

The show jumpers start training at an age of 4 years, with the ambition to participate in the championships for young jumpers.  Afterwards, the horses compete national and international in young horse classes up to Grand Prix level. We have three competition riders active at various competition levels (Hester, Jorinde and Roelof). The distinguishing feature is a good dressage base combined with management that focuses on the individual horse. At our place is an outdoor jumping arena measuring 35 meters by 70 meters, equipped with an all-weather surface. The horses get their daily movement in the horse walker, the paddocks and the fields. Being located next to the forest, we regularly take the horses riding outside.

Coaching & Training

Throughout the year, Hester coaches and mentors a number of talented Pony, Children and Junior riders, working towards constant improvement for the horse and the rider. Hester also trains and coaches several professional and amateur riders who compete at national and international level. Personal development of the riders in combination with the individual dressage training of the jumping horses are top priority. Hester also coaches riders at their showjumping competitions. The mental aspect in coaching is an important part of this.

The “KNHS talentenplan” and the “HTC Plan” are using knowledge and experience of Hester, to scout upcoming talent every year and then start training them. In 2013, Hester successfully completed the coach training level 5 through the KNHS trainers platform. This is the highest attainable level of training in practice in the Netherlands. Through the KNHS training platform, Hester also keeps her knowledge up to date, in areas such as: psychology, physiology and didactics.

Besides coaching on the individual level, Hester also gives public clinics on request. Finally, Hester also teaches specific training courses in developing young showjumpers. This takes place at the HJC Equestrian venue in Tolbert or at Stal Hester Klompmaker in Buitenpost.

Hester

In 1992, Hester started an equestrian business in Buitenpost, after working for 2 years in Germany with Paul Schockemöhle and Ernst Hofschrör. Meanwhile, there is over 30 years of experience in  independent training of show jumpers and showing them at various competitions at home and abroad. Highlights include: several Dutch Championships both at the KNHS and the KWPN young show jumpers, but also the silver at the World Breeding Championships for six-year-old show jumpers in Lanaken with Uranus was a special achievement.

The last few years have been successful, in terms of coaching and guiding Jorinde and Roelof at various competitions both at home and abroad in which they participated in Children and Juniors classes.

Jorinde

Jorinde has been active in equestrian sports since childhood. She started on the ponies and then switched to horses at the age of 11. Jorinde had a successful competition period with the Children and then moved on to the Juniors classes. In 2024, she will make the next step to Young Riders competitions.

Jorinde combines topsport and training of the horses with the education bachelor “Commercial Economics” at the Johan Cruyff Academy in Groningen.
